Tree Pruning Demonstration
Location: Meadow Creek
The WVU Extension Service in Summers County will be holding a hands on Fruit Tree Pruning Demonstration at Meadow Creek, WV on March 10th, beginning at 5 p.m. Anyone interested in learning how to properly prune fruit trees should meet at Richmond’s Store at 5 p.m. on the 10th. Participants will then travel to Meadow Creek where the demonstration will take place. Be sure to bring your pruners.

The Southern Conservation District Board will be holding their monthly Board Meeting on March 12th. The meeting will be held at the Southern Conservation District Building, 463 Ragland Road, Beckley. The Meeting will begin promptly at 9:45 a.m. The agenda will be posted at the SCD office.

Donkey Basketball Show
Location: Summers Middle School
Buckeye Donkey Basketball Show! The Craziest Show on Earth! It’s wilder than a Rodeo!
It’s funnier than a circus!
This doubleheader jackass extravaganza will be at the Summers Middle School on March 13th and 14th, beginning at 7:00 p.m. A playoff game between the winning teams will determine this year’s champion.
Real, live, donkeys specially selected for Donkey Basketball will be used for this fantastic show presented by Summers Middle School.
Come one, come all, to the craziest show on Earth.
Donkey Basketball tickets will be $6.00 in advance or $8.00 at the door.
Advance tickets can be purchased at Lowell Market, Talcott Elementary School, and Massie Insurance in Hinton.
Location: Jumping Branch
The Jumping Branch Nimitz Community/Senior Center is having a Jam Session March 21st beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The Center will be selling hot dogs and other food. The Center is raising money to do renovations and needed repairs to the building.
The Center is located on Rt 3 beside the Jumping Branch Elementary School behind the Jumping Branch Tabernacle.
Bring your instrument and song, or just a song or a story.
Location: Hinton Area Elementary
Hinton Area Elementary will hold its third annual carnival themed: “A Winter Wonderland” on Saturday, March 21st beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Join in games such as Pin the Nose on Olaf, Golf, Snowman Toss, Basketball Shoot, as well as Art, Face Painting, Cake Walk and more!
Food available will include hotdogs with all of the fixings, chips, drinks, and baked goods.
A King and Queen Coronation will begin at 4:30, the proceeds will benefit the end of the year field trips, Straight A Banquet, materials for awards assembly and more.
Auctioneer Danita Richmond will return once again for bidding to begin on a variety of items from local businesses and Themed Baskets of goods donated by parents and HAE Staff.

Cambell-Flannagan-Murrell House Museum
Location: Hinton, WV
The Campbell-Flannigan-Murrell House Museum is closed for the season. Free tours may be arranged for individuals or groups by calling 304-445-5769 or 304-466-1401.
The Board Meetings are open to any and all interested. Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Call one of the above numbers for meeting location.

The fee will be $25.00 per player and is due when you turn in the form.

Easter Sunrise Service and Breakfast
Location: War Ridge Free Will Baptist Church
The War Ridge Free Will Baptist Church will be holding an Easter Sunrise Service on Sunday, April 5th at 6:00 a.m. followed by a free breakfast in the Fellowship Hall. The service will be conducted by Joseph Swiney. All are welcome to attend.

Cody Wickline Concert Tickets

The West Virginia Water Festival is sponsoring a concert at the Ritz Theatre on July 31st, with Cody Wickline and full band performing.
Tickets are $15.00 and will be sold on April 25th at the City of Hinton Fire Department during the Spring Fling sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There will be a limited amount of seating and tickets sold are non-refundable and will be sold as long as there is available seating.
Red Hat Society

The Ronceverte chapter of the Red Hat Society and the Happy Travelers are sponsoring two bus trips to Abingdon, VA Barter theatre. The trips will be on May 12th to see the show “Anything Goes”, a musical comedy, and October 8th to see “Debbie & Doyle, a comedy.
